2018 Grand Marshalls

Vernita Jordan and Merle Boehlke

We are proud to announce a brother-sister duo, Merle Boehlke and Vernita Jordan, as the 2018 Painted Hills Festival Grand Marshals.

Merle and Vernita have always been a big part of making the Painted Hills Festival a success.  Merle has played the last 22 years in whatever band he was involved with at the time.  He is always willing to help with various set-up and take-down projects, sound system glitches, and more.  Vernita helped put on the festival, volunteered at the Country Store booth, lined up entertainment, and lots more.  Come to Mitchell on September 1st to honor these two—they certainly deserve it!

Half Marathon

For more information on the race – www.paintedhillshalf.com

Race bus leaves Spoke’n Hostel at 7:00 AM sharp. All runners must sign in at Spoke’n prior to entering the course.

Children’s Activities

New this year – Bounce House and Water Slide! Children’s activities will be held in the city park during the day as well as a great show from Penny’s Puppets at 2:45 on the City Park Stage.

Grand Parade

Don’t miss the centerpiece of the Painted Hills Festival. The parade kicks off at 11:30 AM and will loop through town twice for good measure.

Water Trough Races

New this year – A gravity powered “race” down main street in water troughs with wheels! All water trough race carts must steer, stop, hold some water, and pass safety inspection. Want to participate? Show up ready to roll (no other forms of propulsion other than gravity allowed) at Wheeler County Trading at 3:15 PM sharp for Safety Inspection.
